Learn more about Facebook Live API
The most common way to Go Live from your Facebook page is to use the “Publishing Tools” on your Facebook page. Log on to your Facebook page and click on Publishing Tools in the top menu, then click on Videos, but it doesn’t allow you to go live from your profile.
You could also use LiveStream App but again the use is limited.
Facebook Go Live streaming from your computer for Free
In a roundabout way you can use Facebook Go Live streaming from your computer, either on your personal profile, pages or groups.
Firstly you need publishing software and ‘Go Live’ access, however Facebook doesn’t give you the ‘Publishing Options’ for personal profiles unlike pages, so I have used their Live Video API for developers to create the above button.
I do recommend the FREE open source OBS Studio (Wirecast Alternative).
OBS Studio can use many different sources for live stream including:
- Image and Videos stored on your computer
- Multiple webcams
- Your PCs display
- A window on your computer
*See how to download OBS Studio at the end of this page.
Once OBS Studio is installed and running then feel free to use the “Create Live Stream to Facebook” button above which I have created.
Facebook doesn’t give you ‘Publishing Options’ for personal profiles unlike pages, so I have used their Live video API to create the button.

Ensure its OBS Studio as it has built in support for Facebook Live – The classic version does not.
